White Deer Woods is a short documentation of the trees of the Houghton Estate, investigating over the course of a day, the animal like characteristics of these trees. More specifically capturing the trees that, without leaves are skeletons, out of place in the green summer months. Studying these trees over the course of the last couple of years while being on site for the festival i have began to liken them to the white fallow deer that roam the acres of the estate, with antler-like branches sprouting from all directions the trees become abstract monsters against their evergreen cousins. This work is presented in topographical format, so the viewer is able to study the difference between each tree side by side, much like we study the difference between animals and more specifically even humans.
